Formula 1 2010: Bahrain GP

After the Final round of practice at Barcelona, Spain; excitement is starting to build before the start of the 2010 Formula 1 Season in Bahrain on the weekend of 12-14 March 2010
Four Teams have emerged as likely challengers for the 2010 Title. The Top Four are Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull. Fernando Alonso is still favorite. He has looked good when testing the Ferrari and his times have consistently been among the fastest.

Lewis Hamilton is 2nd Favorite. The Mclaren has been quick so far and experienced few problems during the practice sessions. Both Hamilton and team mate Jensen Button have done many laps in the new Mclaren without problems. The Mercedes engine is renowned for its reliability and Mclaren will be challenging for the crown at the end of the season. The only question is which driver will lead the challenge – Hamilton or Button? The bookmakers seem to think that it will be Hamilton. Button is only 6th favorite to retain his drivers title

Michael Schumacher for Mercedes is joint 3rd Favorite to win the Drivers Title. Both him and team mate Nico Rosberg have managed a lot of practice laps in the new Mercedes GP MGP W01 racing car. Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche made the intentions of Team Mercedes very clear, when he said in an interview that Team Mercedes had to win races and pay for itself. He said that the moment Daimler had clear indications that they could spend their money better outside of Formula 1, they would reconsider their position in the sport. It is clear that Mercedes is targeting the championship in their First season.

Sebastian Vettel is joint 3rd Favorite with Schumacher. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have looked quick in practice and considering their remarkable season in 2009, where they won 6 races and finished 2nd in the constructors championship, they are set to build on that and will test the other top teams this season.
Force India and Team Lotus didn’t show much in practice so far. Team Renault have shown some pace in practice, but we will have to see how reliable the car proves to be. Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov are promising young drivers that could surprise if the Renault package proves fast enough.
Team Williams and veteran driver Rubens Barrichello showed a lot of pace in the wet in practice, but we will have to wait and see how they perform in dry conditions and how reliable the car is..
